Russian-made oat malt is for sale for the first time!
On May 6,
Grainrus began the production of Russian oat malt under the Kursk Malt brand at
its own malt house in Kursk.

Malt, Russian-made oat malt, will become an equivalent alternative to foreign
producers of oat malt, represented in Russia and the CIS. As part of the national import substitution
program, the start of the production of oat malt is an important step in
providing manufacturers of the brewing and food industries with high-quality
raw materials produced within Russia.
The malt
house of Kursk Malt has more than 8 years of experience in the production of
basic and special malts with a colour from 20 to 1400 EBC according to the
highest standards. Product quality is confirmed by the international product
quality marks ISO, EAC, LGC, VLB Berlin, and has also been repeatedly awarded
with awards of national competitions and prizes.
A feature
of oatmeal malt is that cereal grains are enriched with vitamins A, K, F, H
(biotin), E, group B (B1, B2, B3, B6), which positively affect the central and
peripheral nervous system, improve the cardiovascular system. Vitamin K plays
an important role in the prevention of osteoporosis, improves blood
coagulation, and is involved in the regulation of kidney function. Grains
contain trace elements that increase immunity and help strengthen bones, such
as iron, zinc, potassium, sulphur, iodine, magnesium, manganese, fluorine,
nickel, phosphorus, as well as malonic acid, oxalic, erucic acid, lysine,
tryptophan. The high content of elements of gum, essential oils, gluten, which,
in turn, can lower the bad cholesterol, which has a beneficial effect on the
cardiovascular system.
In the
process of oat malt production, there is a technology that includes the process
of soaking in an air-water way to a moisture content of 42-44%, growth for
4-4.5 days at a temperature of 14-190C and the drying process on
frying drums to a moisture content of 6% and colour up to 10EBC. Malt is dried
on Czech-made frying drums at temperatures up to 85C, which gives a more
intense aroma and rich taste.
In brewing,
oat malt is used in the production of dark beers, strong English ales, porters,
stouts. Brewers choose oat malt to obtain a more saturated and aromatic dark
beer with persistent foam, to give the beer “silkiness”, to strengthen the
bouquet of beer, giving the drink the taste of fresh biscuits, a unique texture
and creamy taste.
In other
areas, oat malt is also used for dietary purposes, as a cough suppressant (6
glasses a day), for pancreatitis, allergies to components of cow's milk, malt
helps to improve sugar levels to diabetics, improves pancreatic function,
vitamin B complex improves brain function.
